Obviously being an America it feels somewhat rewarding to hear that Americans are making an impact over seas. One thing that is unique to hear is how Americans actually have some skills that are not within other players. For example it was mentioned that Americans possess more physicality. This is interesting to think about.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, Charlie. The presence of physicality in American players is likely because in Europe the athletes with the best physical capabilities usually are playing Football.
DeleteAs I read more and more of these blogs it has really interested me to hear about all these fun American players that I have forgotten about or wondered about their career. Whether it be Nikola Mirotic on FC Barca, Shabazz Napier on Olimpia Milano or Markus Howard playing for Baskonia, you remember all the talent and impact that they can bring to a team based on their previous American careers. Just like the NBA getting foreign players, I think EuroLeague getting American players helps to globalize the sport.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree that the presence of American players in EuroLeague teams helps to globalize the sport and adds an exciting dimension to the league. These players bring with them a wealth of experience and talent from their time playing in the United States, which can be a significant asset for their EuroLeague teams. Additionally, it's always interesting to see how these players adapt to the different playing styles and cultures of the European basketball scene.
DeleteWhen it comes to basketball, American-born players are certainly of high value for international teams. Prior to reading and researching for my own blog, I was unaware of the large amount of American players that are members of EuroLeague baskretball teams. This is a super cool concept to me, because it really brings the world of sports together.
ReplyDeleteIt is very interesting to see how many of the successful college basketball players that do not pan out in the NBA turn to playing in Europe and end of having successful careers. Many of the elite teams across Europe has many players that had success in America whether in the college game or partly in the professional game. Always very interesting to see how their careers continue here even when many Americans do not think about it.
DeleteI think its really cool how a lot of Americans are having an impact in the EuroLeague. Due to their impact I have noticed myself paying a little more attention to the EuroLeague even if unintentionally. For example, when someone who was a notable American player is making their mark in the EuroLeague it usually pops up on my social media feeds. Hopefully Americans continuous impact in the EuroLeague strengthens the NBAs relationship with them and expands the world of basketball.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, it is always enjoyable to go down the rabbit hole and see where some of your favorite college stars end up playing if they do not find success in the NBA and then follow their career from there. I also follow some of the players that went to my high school or college that now play internationally to see how they are doing and if they are making large contributions for other teams. I think the relationship between America and the EuroLeague will remain strong and gain stronger as basketball becomes even larger in Europe and around the globe.
DeleteThe impact of American players on the rest of the EuroLeague is significant. Their athleticism, physicality, and competitive edge bring a different dimension to the game, which can be difficult for other players to match. Moreover, their experience and knowledge gained from the competitive American basketball circuit have contributed to their high skill level and expertise, making them valuable assets for their respective teams.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think one of the main differences between the American game and International game is the different level of skill and athleticism American players can bring when they play internationally. So many of these American players played on the AAU circuit and have been playing such large amounts of basketball that they tend to have a little more finesse to their game. The difference between the style of basketball is large which can minimize their impact to an extent, but nonetheless many still find success.
